Since there existed no plan locating all archaeological structures in our archives research, it was necessary to start up a relevant activity to draw up a new archaeological plan containing all the collected documentation in order to link it to the database.

The cartography which was adopted as a basis for the system is constituted by papers H22 and H23 of the "SURVEY OF EGYPT. “, to the scale of 1 to 5,000. The accuracy and detail of this map are high, and it has definition elements which can also be used at lower scales. For instance, the contour lines with 1 m equidistance were used for maps to the scale of 1 to 2,000.

On the basis of the aero-photogrametry, the archaeological structures were reported, thus substantially defining the new archaeological map of north Saqqara; for this work were used aerial photos suitably mosaicked and geo-referred.
