International Workshop of Cultural Heritage Project:

Risk Map for Saqqara Site (Environmental Program)

 October 11 and 12, 2003  - Mena House Oberoi Hotel -Cairo, Egypt

In the framework of the Egyptian-Italian Environmental Cooperation Program, Dr. Zahi Hawass (Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities/SCA, Ministry of Culture) and His Excellency Mr. Antonio Badini, the Italian Ambassador in Egypt, present the International Workshop of Cultural Heritage Project: Risk Map for Saqqara Site (Environmental Program).


Objective of the workshop is to give visibility to the original scientific results of the Project. In detail:

  • To present the results of the first phase (Site Information System and Risk Map) and the concepts of the second phase (Site Management) of the Egyptian-Italian Environmental Program, Cultural Heritage Project.

  • To validate and publicize the scientific approach transferred from the Italian experience to Egyptian Archaeological Heritage, documented in the “Handbook for the Environmental Risk Analysis”.

  • To establish a link with the Mediterranean experiences on Archaeological Site Management.
